As I have been a collector and dealer of African tribal art for several years now, I have often been introduced to a wide range of people over there years of experience, all being engaged in a similar way to different cultures and art scenes just like I have been. As a result, I had recently been presented an exclusive collection of NOBORI banners, dated approx. around the turn of the 19th – 20th century. This special collection had been collected until the 1970’s and is still privately owned by a German textile entrepreneur.
The collection consists of approx.300 NOBORI banners. Each banner comes in the size of either 6 x 0,60 metres or 3 x 0,60 metres. All banners are designed double sided and are still in great condition. A limited amount of banners are even provided with autograph signature by the artist.
Some NOBORIS from this German collection had been exhibited at the Amsterdam opera house in 1988.
Impressed by the extraordinary and stunning artistic value of the manually produced banner collection, I decided to present a selected part of the collection online. My aim was to showcase this special art collection to an affine audience, such as galleries, interior designers, art collectors and experts with an ethnologically background.
So please immerse yourself into the world of NOBORI virtually exhibited on this special website by clicking into the picture gallery and find out more on the artistic background on Japanese NOBORI within the background information section.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me, should you have any further questions regarding any item of the displayed art collection or/ and its pricing
